Behind the Blog

Hi! We are Hannah, Charlotte and Tanya – the modern women behind this blog. We work together in an events agency in Portsmouth on the South Coast of the UK, and we’re friends too. We have a lot in common but we’re also very different people, so between us we have a pretty diverse take on life. Uniting us is a passion for eating well, being active, making ethical decisions as consumers, and hunting down a bit of inner peace and happiness along the way. Here’s the inside scoop on the three of us…

Name
Charlotte

Age
38

Hair
Naturally? Can’t remember. Blonde these days…

Brown

Mastermind subject
Renaissance art and architecture during the high Renaissance

Superpower
I can survive on an insanely tiny amount of sleep for a week and carry on smiling

Secret skill
I’m awesome at tiling

Favourite place
Venice

Greatest passion
Hmmm. I would normally say travel, but lately home renovation seems to have taken over my life, and I’m loving it!

Pet peeve
People who drive in the middle lane when the inside lane is clear. Or people who swear in front of little kids. . No – chewing loudly! I HATE that. Oh dear – loads of things annoy me…

Loves of my life
My family and my closest friends. Um, can I say chocolate too?

Biggest insecurity
Being overweight

Favourite exercise
Cycling

Favourite possession
My kindle. I’m a fast reader and I travel a lot, so it saves me carrying lots of books all the time.

Favourite clothing brand
Boden. Because I’m lazy and I love internet shopping, and their kids clothes are like old-fashioned kids clothes rather than tiny versions of grown up outfits.

Favourite book
ARGH – really hard to choose just one. Right now, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, or maybe The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell.

Favourite film
Amelie

Favourite perfume
Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom and Honey

Name
Hannah

Age
26

Hair
Brunette, although my partner would be quick to tell you there may already be a few greys!

Eyes
Brown

Mastermind subject
Pitch Perfect, I can quote 99% of the film or Taylor Swift songs!

Superpower
I am annoyingly positive. If you see me frowning, make sure to take cover because the world could be about to end!

Secret skill
Being irritatingly tidy and organised, other people’s messy desks (I’m looking at you Charlotte) have been known to distress me in the past.

Favourite place
New Zealand, in particular the south island, I would go back in a heartbeat!

Greatest passion
Making gluten free food that actually tastes nice. Since being diagnosed with IBS a few years ago and going gluten free I am pretty much on a constant search to find recipes and gluten free foods that are delicious.

Pet peeve
Traffic for no reason, it completely infuriates me. If there has been an accident, a broken down car or a lane closure I totally understand but sitting in traffic for no reason drives me up the wall. It is a good thing I walk to work really.

Loves of my life
My partner, my family and my bestie. Oh and my cat, Bertie, even though he hates me and has been known to push my face away (on several occasions) when I try unsuccessfully to cuddle him.

Biggest insecurity
That I won’t be good enough.

Favourite exercise
I really want to say running but it just isn’t true (yet – but everyone keeps telling me if I persevere I will stop hating it with every fibre of my being) so instead for now I will have to say a circuits class or a HIIT session.

Favourite possession
My phone, bear with me, because my family and friends are based not only across the country but around the globe and being able to talk, message and facetime them every day is the greatest gift of all.

Favourite clothing brand
Probably my best friend Laura’s wardrobe! Up until a short time ago we lived together and our wardrobes pretty much amalgamated into one. Now neither of us can visit the other without swapping a few items of clothing before returning home. Thanks Laura!

Favourite book
At the moment I am reading The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well and I love it! Candles, blankets and cashmere socks, yes please! Shall we all run away to Copenhagen together?

Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Some Like it Hot.

Favourite perfume
Chloé Perfume, I love it!
